I've got a couple Antennex Antennas on my car.
My UHF Whip has been performing poorly.

I looked at the Base, I guess that's what that part is called.
And it looks like the Copper/Brass is corroded.

What is the best way to clean that off?

And is there anything I can put on that pin to keep it from happening with my other antennas?
This is my newest one.

I have a VHF 5/8 Whip that's starting to do the same thing.

Anyways, I'm using Trunklid Mounts. And the antennas almost never come off. I only take them off for car washes. And I always dry off the mount before I put the antennas back on.

Not sure if this is the right forum for this either.

I know our radio shop puts some type of electrically conductive grease on the mounts themselves. Would bet that would also work on the plunger on the antenna as well.

Clean them up with a small bit of "Nevr Dull" wadding. That will remove the corrosion.
Nevr Dull is a metal cleaner in that blue can, its a cotton wadding of some sort. Then like the above poster says maybe a dab of conductive grease on the pin will help stop that mess.
Hope that helps some.
