I'm using a PSR-800 and realized I don't receive any radio traffic on I-80 between the TA at MP 377 and approximately MP 395. I switched to an external antenna with no results. I verified there is radio traffic by using Live Audio on my phone. I checked my primary and alternate control channels against RR database and I have all of Laramie County channels programmed. Any idea why I am experiencing a dead spot in this area.

Everything is up and running fine. I'd have to say there is a programming issue with your radio. There is no existing tie between Nebraska and Wyoming at this time.

The closest tower on that end of the county is the Kimball site, which can reach Cheyenne on decent days.

Other than that, check your programming.

REF: No Comm on I-80

PJH . . .

I have all primary and alternate control channels for Laramie County programmed so, I'm stumped. No problems receiving radio traffic in PineBluffs and Cheyenne. I can pick up radio traffic in Buford as well. Strange that my radio is silent in that small area on I-80.

Was in that area for the last three days, no issues on my end. Plenty of DOT traffic.

Remember that there needs to be an affiliated radio in that area for the tower to be active. There probably was no affiliated radio when you were there.

Hi Steve,

Listening to radio traffic using my phone and Live Audio. However, my PSR-800 is silent. Just went through my radio and all Primary and Alternate CCs are loaded. Seems strange that my radio is silent in that 20 mile area.

Ok... live audio could be using a site in the city, and not out in the east county. What hpycmpr said is correct. The closest tower is Russell Hill, and should be able to hear the water tank or even 85 South.

Either way, with Pine Bluffs on 02LE1, you will hear at least that talkgroup almost anywhere in the county now.

Go through your scanner, or get a better antenna :)

just an idea i would put in North Albin also, some of the radios are not all ways put in to site auto scan,
some times they have to be put in that condition manualy,

the site for the live audio is in cheyenne FYI.

If you are referring to WyoLink radio ls and not scanners that statement is incorrect. The radios will affiliate to the best tower based on RSSI values, but sometimes they will log onto a more distant tower if the radio thinks the values are still better.

If programmed, the user can have the radio scan for a better site if needed
