No more 10 codes?

Hi all,

Los Alamos Police have started a no 10 code transmissions. I have no idea why...unless this is the new thing for police to try.

It gets kinda funny because they are so use to saying "10-4", that they will say it and then correct themselves saying "ok" or "copy".

Anybody else hearing this happening in there community?

Home Land Security has declared if Police Departments don't go to plan english, they will be cut off from Federal Funds.

Hobbs PD has also moved to 'clear text' transmissions... no more codes or tens.

roswell police department down here in SE NM still use the 10-codes & CCSO too.

While the feds are requiring use of plain English or lose federal funding, the Albuquerque Police are trying to get around this by using plain english on mutual aid calls only. We will see how that goes.

The PD here in Las Cruces are still useing codes. Be nice when they do move to plain speech, I'm having trouble learning there dispo codes. When ever an officer clears the call he says something like "yes report on an 36DA" and I have no idea. lol
