No Scanning just STUCK

I have a Uniden BearCAT BC896XLT circa 2000. It has been operating fine for many years, however recently it is stuck. In the SCAN mode it doesn't do anything. It used to scan.

I checked:

All buttons for being stuck, all buttons are fine

The remote on/off in the back is OFF

there is not rmt on the front panel

Hold an Limit keys when depressed just scroll thru the channels 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,etc, etc next to the displayed frequency which by the way is displayed as 000.000 and it does not move

When depressing the PRI key it states " P ch LOCK OUT"

When depressing the MANUAL key it also just scroll thru the channels 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,etc, etc next to the displayed frequency which by the way is displayed as 000.000 and it does not move

When depressing the Wx key I get the local Weather Frequency no problem.

The amber light does not work but that burned out 2 years ago when it was operating fine

Any insight into this problem would be appreciated

Sounds like the memory for the frequencies got wiped. If you are displaying 000.000 in each memory slot (assuming that you had the specific memories filled previously) then there is nothing to scan. As such there is nothing for the scanner to do. Try plugging in a frequencies into a few memory slots and see if it scans again. Since you can hear the WX then that is a good sign that the receiver is still working.
