I noticed on unitrunker today, about a dozen new radios affiliating with the state DPS system on the Norman PD Talkgroup (48624).

This is similar to what we saw before the switchover in Shawnee last month.

I don't know if the Norman talkgroups will show up on the OKC system, so those of you who monitor the Norman sites, please keep the rest of us informed.

As a matter of background, the City of Norman Motorola Trunked System is expected to become a part of the Statewide DPS Motorola Trunked System in the near future. The Norman system has been a stand-alone system since it was built. It has had talkgroups linked to the state system, but now the Norman system will become a 2-site simulcast subsystem within the larger State System.

All of the Fire dept radios were in for a re-program yesterday at Fire station # 1. Today the police dept radios are getting the treatment. The other Norman non-emergency people have already had the re-programming.

From chatter I've heard, they have both systems in, I believe as Zones. When they are read to switch, I assume everyone will be instructed to switch Zones.

Man, I registered over 80 new affiliations in the past couple days. I have been averaging 15 or so a week. The Norman radios are mostly to blame I am sure.

Norman Fire on RMA 2-F

Tonight (Wednesday) the Norman Fire Department has switched operations to the State DPS system on Talkgroup 43536 (RMA 2-F). They are complaining of poor hand held radio coverage, particularly in downtown Norman. I wonder if the OU Energy Building site on the DPS system is down for the switchover.

Interesting that most of the fire department and EMSTAT radios are not NEW affiliations. They have had access to the DPS system for some time.

Some interesting listening, anyway.
