North Texas Emergency Communications Center (NTECC) is the Dispatch center for MetroCrest Radio System. Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Addison, and Coppell.
Sounds like they are programming in the NTIRN Interop Channels. A Radio Tech has been testing on Law IO Call this morning.

That would be good, if all of the various trunked systems coordinated to allow access their neighbor's system. Besides the usual car chases, other crimes, such as robberies, see the same suspects committing a string of incidents in multiple areas. Of course, they do need to train their dispatch centers, & perhaps specific supervisory personnel, on how to do this as quickly and efficiently as possible.

They already have specific talkgroups for accessing Dallas PD Northwest Patrol Division, which is adjacent to much of their area, as well as a link for the DFR Locution dispatch, where one or more of the MetroCrest area departments is requested via "automatic assist".

Side note:
They are adding a capability for their dispatch center, that when a 911 call comes in from a cellphone, they can send the caller a link which then enables the PSAP personnel to view the scene, and gather more information where needed. This was covered on Fox4 News last week.

This is good news seeing how a City or cities using encryption can isolate themselves from neighboring cities and the need for interop radio Channel. So it's good to hear Dallas PD can communicate with Carrollton, Addison, and FB in an emergency situation

Metrocrest had DPD 5 and DFR patched over a long time ago. I mean it makes sense to add TG's they're kinda stuck between DPD-5 and 6. What would be really sick is if they merge into NTIRN altogether.

You caught us ;-). Fun fact, the test was not supposed to happen on Law IO Call but a programming issue caused a radio to be on the wrong talk group. With Dallas City/County moving to NTIRN it is important that other Dallas County agencies have access to NTIRN IO.
