I am using Sentinal 3.00 Revision 01. I made a profile and 1 Favorite list. In profile i have monitor and download both to "On"
Service types All On. Write to scanner and turn on profile and asign quick key to 1. Go to scan and i keep getting
"Nothing To Scan" I go back to my favorite, i check information it says "0" bytes. The name is there but nothing in the list.
Im spending hours and hours to figure out what is wrong. If any one know or could help. It would be appreciated!

Welcome to the forums! In Sentinel, does it show that you have a system and departments with talkgroups or conventional frequencies? If it is a trunked system, do you have a site with frequencies. Please attach your favorites list file so we can take a look at it. Go to the File tab in Sentinel and click on Export to hpe file (Favorites List). You will need to zip the exported file to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and open the zipped file.

I have your file. If the name of the favorites list is in the scanner, I don't understand why you don't have any systems. I see you have no quick key for the favorites list and quick key 1 for all of the systems. The favorites list should scan all of the time with no quick key. The system quick key status normally has all enabled by default unless you change it. Most law enforcement on the PA-STARNet statewide trunked system is encrypted and cannot be received by any scanner (DE or TE in Mode Column of database). You have far too many sites programmed on the PA-STARNet system. You will miss a lot of activity while trying to scan out of range sites. I also see that the first 2 departments in Perry County are blank. From your file, I can see you are in PA. If you let me know your city or town and county, I will be able to check what is available to scan at your location and help with the programming.

I live between 2 counties Perry and Cumberland. I wil lhave to take out the freqs that cant recive, but still dont know why its not reading it.

Primary communications for Cumberland County are currently on an OpenSky system which no scanner can monitor. They are in the process of building out a new P25 radio system. When you plugged the cable into the scanner to write to it, did you press E on the scanner keypad to enter USB Mass Storage?

Yes i pressed the E button on the scanner and it is set up for mass storage. And i bought this used and the the favorits that were on the card that came with the scanner work as they are supposed to, but mine dont. I tried formating the card and starting over but did not fix the issue.

The strange thing is on the sellers card they are selected, and on my card i cannot change them they have this :---- And when i try to turn on it just beeps.

If the service types on the scanner show "---" instead of ON or OFF, that means that the scanner doesn't see any of those service types on the SD card. I may have missed it, but if you go into the Set Profile on Sentinenl (green circle) is your favorite set for "Download ON" (red circle). If that is OFF the program will NOT load the favorite into the SD card. Also the column next to it, "Monitor" needs to be on for the favorite to be active on the scanner. I'm not 100% sure if this is the issue, but I do know that if you are getting --- in your Select Service screen on the scanner, the channels with those service types are certainly not being seen on the SD card. My only other guess would be a corrupted SD card.

I apologize if I've repeated things you've already tried.

Yes i selected on for monitor and download, and i tried 2 differnt cards with the same result.. Maybe 2 morrow i will go buy a brand new card and try it again.

Think I've seen that :----- in the empty SAME / FIPS boxes under WX in the Edit Profile. Any change the WX alert is on?
Also, any chance the avoids may have been activated?

How are you programming the card? Usb cable or card reader?

As the x36HP series uses the same green-shield Sentinel as the SDS series does, you should be able to make edits with that, as well as in your scanner's menu.

Also, be sure to check location control in the menu especially location by ZIP. Since you bought it used, there's a fair chance it thinks it's still in its previous owner's location!

Also check range, afterwards.

On the scanner, try this: Press MENU > Scroll to Manage Favorites > Press E > Scroll to your favorites list > Press E > Scroll to Use Location Control > Press E > Scroll to Off > Press E > Press AVOID to exit menus.

Thought about location also but he is saying fav list shows up empty.

I go back to my favorite, i check information it says "0" bytes.

Believe the list would have a file size regardless of location control being on or off.

This might not be the OP's problem, but a list might show up as 0kb in the profile's list of Favorites systems, though not in Windows Explorer.

I selected "Edit Favorites", then when prompted to pick one from the list, I selected New

That then takes me to the Favorites Edit screen.

Instead of adding a system to the new list, I simply saved it.

Now, when I look, in a Profile, at the Favorites lists available, the one I just created shows a size of zero.,

As you already noted, the file the OP attached earlier in this thread does have systems, sites, & conventional channels.

Check the active profile in Sentinel, and make sure that the file you want is set to be both downloaded and monitored. It may be that you have two lists with similar names. The one that shows 0kb in the list of Favorites in your profile may be the "blank" list that you are loading. Either set it not to download & not to monitor, or simply delete it to avoid future problems.

You may have loaded your "blank" plus the list you attached earlier, In the scanner's menu, make sure that the list you really intended to use is set to be scanned.

Helo late gtting back on today, the wx pri was on! I turned it off and now there is like 42 bytes in the list but 0 systems?
