SDS100/SDS200: P25 phase 1 programming to SDS100

New guy, Have the SDS100 for a week now. I was able to program P25 phase 2 into the scanner ok, but when I try to program Phase 1 for my county it loads all counties in Ohio. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? In Sentinal I go to USA, then Ohio, Medina, statewide, Oh. Marcs-IP multi-agency, Medina co.(52) from here I highlight all 27 talkgroups, and append to a new favorites list named " Phase 1" and then "send to scanner". When I select that favorite list in the radio and start scanning, it starts scanning all 88 counties in Ohio. All I want to monitor is the 27 talkgroups in Medina co. (52) Any ideas? Thanks so much! If you mean it programs all counties, meaning sites, it does that. Just set the ones you don't listen to to avoid. If its loading all, what's you range set at?

Why phase 1? Why not name the list to reflect the county?

Yep, just mark all the MARCS sites that you do not wish to monitor to AVOID (as stated above) and you are good. The easy way to do this is when you are in Sentinal under the SITES tab.

Not sure what the range is set to. how do I check that. as far as naming the favorite, I just want to make sure it's programmed right and then I can rename later. I've read about AVOID, but I'll go in and do that. Thanks all

May I ask your city or town? Medina is both a city and the county. Statewide systems don't honor county lines. If you are located on the edge of a county, your local units may affiliate with a site in an adjacent county.

The name of the favorites list has no relation to systems being programmed correctly or not. If your a new user, and use Sentinel and append systems in the master database, generally everything will be programmed correctly. If one tries to manually program systems, there can be many errors.

You only need to program the 2 red frequencies with the lower case "c". They are the only 2 that can be used as the control channel on that site. All of the frequency info is carried on the control channel. If you program all of the frequencies, sometimes the scanner may hang up on a data frequency. Don't enter the "c". That only indicates that the frequency is control channel capable.

Also you need to set the Talkgroups you want to here the SDS100 will automatically choose between P25 Phase 1 and P25 Phase 2.
All you have to do is SYSTEMS, SITES and TALKGROUPS

Welcome to the RR forums @kd8vmk Yes, this is a limitation with Sentinel & one of the reasons I don't use it for programming. Consider using Proscan paired with a Radioreference Premium Subscription to utilize the RR web import feature with Proscan's favorites list editor. This allows you to choose only the sites/depts/talkgroups you want to program. You get a 30 day fully functional Proscan trial to program what you need to & then after that 30 day period, $50.00 gets you two activations.
