Anyone know anything about these channels ? What frequencies they are. I heard they were large scale interop channels that are used all over the country, not sure if that’s correct.
Thanks

In many areas you will see NPSAC used to refer to the non-rebranded versions.

More common nomenclature for the channels are:
8CALL90
8TAC91
8TAC92
8TAC93
8TAC94

The above works with limited display radios and a D suffix can be added to designate a direct/talk-around function of the channel.

All nationwide interop channel broken down by spectrum can be found here:

https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?aid=7742

Not to pick nits, but it's rebanding, not rebranding (or 800 MHz reconfiguration, if you want to get really technical)

Please note, “Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk”. It’s been a long day decommissioning one mobile command unit (which is likely to become my next service vehicle) and installing into its (older) replacement. Then driving the decommissioned unit 150 miles back to the office…just got home and didn’t catch the rebanding>rebranding autocorrect.

Others have posted the freqs, I just want to remind that there are similar options in every public safety band. If your 800 MHz radio is 700 MHz and/or 900 MHz capable, add those, too.

Find the NIFOG guide, with your favorite search engine.

Do a search for them.

You will find there are a number of channels the FCC has set aside for interop use. You probably won't hear much on them until there is an inter agency incident where comms are needed between the different agencies.

You might hear more fire dept. comms than LE.

You may also want to listen to

8TAC95 - 851.775
8TAC96 - 859.7875

NJ has 2 of their own.

8TAC95 - 851.775
8TAC96 - 859.7875

NJ has 2 of their own.

Arizona has an additional one of its own, as well.

8TAC95 853.0375 aka AZ TAC 5

Other states may also have their own 8TACs.

Also take note, although Maricopa County here has a Big M Type IIi 800 MHz trunked system, deputies like to use VTAC12 as a car-to-car chit-chat channel.
I've heard AzDOT employees also using a VTAC for car-to-car comms after a particularly heavy rain event as they were checking the freeway underpasses for flooding, instead of the AZWIN 700 MHz P25 trunked system.

I've also heard encryption on 7TAC73 and on one of the 700 MHz national low power itinerant channels. I have no idea as to who those users were.

You never know who you may hear where, so program in all of the interoperability channels.

just this morning...

8tac94 in use for a large scale fire drill. tied in with a local fire tac channel.
they are not used often, but when they are it is big.
i have had then in a radio or 2 for about 25 years. back in the pre-reband era even.
keep them in, you never know.
and this is what old, extra radios are good for.

They are in sentinel which hopefully you can see in the attachment.

You can also go to NJ->Essex->Statewide->NJ Common Shared->Common/Shared - Public Safety Common...
