Did you watch the whole help movie? At the 3 minute mark the movie shows how to do what you are asking.
The only difference on the 200 would be to use the large, left knob to select the character. That video should be pinned for all new users to see.

It's a shame Uniden didn't develop a way for the user to enter it via Sentinel. Rather cumbersome to have to keep spinning the knob to enter each character but, is what it is
According to UPMan, the existing method is more secure than via software. That is why Sentinel was not used.

I can’t think of a reason why that would be.

However I have to laugh at this because to hear Uniden talk about security while still using FTP is rather hypocritical.

Is the implication that software cannot be hacked any easier than hardware-entered keys? I am failing to understand the meat of your post other than to criticize FTP. Please remember that I am only passing on what I know, and I am not responsible for the network infrastructure.

It is clear the hardware knows what the upgrade key is based on serial number. My guess is some sort of salted hash.

Since you generate the key from the Uniden site, the risk is the same regardless of the entry mode. I don’t understand why entering it via software would be any riskier than entering it through the scanner itself, considering the software isn’t generating the key.

I should also add that Uniden’s reliance on FTP is not solely within your network engineering group.
