CITYWIDE 301 HERE . THIS IS MY FIRST POST ON THIS BOARD. I HAVE BEEN SITTING BACK READING ALL OF THE POSTINGS AND HAVE TO LAUGH. LET ME MAKE THIS PERFECTLY CLEAR. I AM THE DIRECTOR/OWNER OF THE CW1NY RADIO SYSTEM. ANY INFORMATION OR POSTINGS OR POLICY THAT YOU MAY READ ON THIS BOARD THAT DOES NOT COME FROM ME IS NOT AUTHORIZED OR THE POLICY OF THIS ORGANIZATION. I HAVE BEEN INVOLVED WITH RADIO NOTIFICATIONS SINCE 1974 WHEN THE PARENT CORPORATION OF CW1NY WHICH IS CDSNY STARTED. I HAVE TRIED TO BUILD THE BEST PUBLIC SAFETY GRADE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM IN THE AREA BY USING THE RESOURCES OF MY COMPANY. AS FAR AS THE CWRNY GROUP GOES THIS IS THE ONE AND ONLY STORY. AFTER 9-11, I REALIZED THE NEED FOR A PUBLIC SAFETY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM FOR BOTH ON AND OFF DUTY PERSONNEL. I PUT THIS SYSTEM IN PLACE. SEVERAL MEMBERS OF THE CWRNY GROUP CAME TO ME AND ASKED IF THEY CAN USE MY SYSTEM, I FELT THIS WOULD BE A BENEFIT TO ALL. I WAS WRONG. THE CWRNY GROUP WHILE PUTTING OUT JOBS STARTED EDITORIALIZING ABOUT THE WAY THE JOBS WERE BEING HANDLED BY PUBLIC SAFETY PERSONNEL. I COULD NOT HAVE THIS ON MY SYSTEM. THEY WENT THERE WAY AND I TOOK MY SYSTEM IN A DIFFRERENT DIRECTION.. AS OF 1/1/05 CW1NY IS ONLY ACCEPTING NEW MEMBERS WHO ARE IN THE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNITY . WHILE (CW101 AND SILVERBK) ARE MEMBERS OF THE RADIO SYSTEM, THEY DO NOT SPEAK FOR THIS ORGANIZATION. I AM ASKING YOU NOT TO BELIEVE ANY POSTING SON THIS BOARD RE CW1NY THAT DO NOT COME FROM ME. I THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR GOOD COMMENTS AND SUPPORT. IF YOU WISH TO DISCUSS CW1NY WITH ME I CAN BE REACHED AT 718-435-1574 DURING NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS.
THANK YOU
CW301

Simply, all notification networks are resources - tools, in other words. The end users, be it public safety employees or free-lance photographers looking to make a buck after shooting some film at a good pin job, use the tools available to them as they see fit.
If one doesn't find a need for their services or thinks the network members are wanna-bes, that's fine too. Delete the frequency from the scan list
hello scandal. if anything will happen in all of nyc wouldn"t show up on sod. the incident in williamsburg was on cw 2.jmp883 said:SCANdal wrote:
Well put. I'm not a fireground photographer, never was...never will be. I only shoot posed 'delivery' photos of fire apparatus. I don't need CW1NY for that. I do listen to both CW1NY as well as Metro Fire Photographers in NJ both on and off duty from my job as an emergency services dispatcher just to keep up with what is going on the tri-state area. Unlike most dispatchers I know and work with I enjoy listening to scanners even when off-duty. Sure, they do make mistakes on occasion, and I have heard editorials on how incidents are being handled, but for the most part they're a reliable tool.

hi scandal again i hear a lot of different pls on 453.000.SCANdal said:dave,
Citywide Radio New York and Citywide 1 New York are two seperate groups, or clubs - if you will; both serving a very similiar purpose.
It at one incident one group may have a member giving progress reports directly from the scene while the other group may be monitoring radio traffic over a channel that the opposite isn't, so each may offer a different prespective to the very same event, therefore I monitor both.
