I am in NJ Union/Hudson county area. I have no problems picking up NYPD and FDNY, I am wondering if anyone on here has any experience with the NYC DOC as far as monitoring goes. I work in corrections here in NJ and am interested to know if it would even be worth while to program some of the frequencies into my scanner. As in, is the signal strong enough for me to monitor or not so much. Thanks in advance.

Nyc doc

You live close enough to the Big Apple to be able to hear at least the Staten Island, Brooklyn & Manhattan facilities, maybe even all five boros, just put them in and see what you can hear, never know unless you try. The RR database for the metro NYC area has a thorough list for them, also check out: www.n2nov.net as he has a list of frequencies also. NYC DOC is also assigned talkgroups on the NYC DOITT UHF & 800 MHz trunked systems. Here is the NYC DOC website: www.nyc.gov/html/doc/html/home/home.shtml very interesting, also includes a list of all of their facilities.Let us know what happens, okay?

Thanks

FLRAILMAN, thanks for the input, so far all the nyc conventional frequencies are coming in 5 by 5 from Linden, now just waiting to see about the nyc doitt systems, the one is coming in good, but I am hearing nothing on the doitt public safety uhf system as of yet. By chance do you know if I have to program in the custom frequency tables with that system into my scanner or is it automatic?

NYC DOC/ NYC UHF DOITT System

I relocated from the Big Apple before the UHF DOITT system was fully up & running, check with N2NOV as he is sure to know, don't forget about the NYS DOC & Federal corrections facilities & their associated frequencies in the NYC Metro area if you are so inclined. Happy hunting.

Yes,you need to program the system with the uhf tables, control channels and with a 6.25 spacing to trunk it properly.

Hey tommyscan

I have the doitt programmed into my pro-160 (the uhf and vhf) using butels software now i remember looking at the setup and the table does not allow me to enter 6.25 step size. Is this a problem with the rs pro-160 or am i doing something wrong again. The vhf trunks without any problems.
