Just a question for the group. There are many days that I listed to NYPD Emergency Service Frequency.

Sometimes you hear several transmissions for instance diff breather with the address and again diff breather with another address etc They don't seem to be dispatching anyone and no units acknowledge. I was wondering if someone can explain these types of transmissions

Many thanks

This is put out because ALL ESU cops are either EMT's or paramedics and carry medical equipment on all of their vehicles. If there is an ESU unit close by the call they will usually pick up the call but they are only dispatched if it is a child or an MOS. ESU respond to major jobs like jumpers or pin jobs etc. Most of the time when the disp. transmits a medical call like a diff breather it is well into the job already and EMS is usually there. But because NYPD is a public safety agency and the ESU MOS are emt's they are required to transmit the jobs just in case they are close by.
