Nypd Mdc1200?

i know that the NYPD is slowly making their way over to the Vertex Radios, do these radios carry MDC1200 funtionality?
Will the NYPD and all services switch over to the Vertex Radios because the Saber Radios are not being made any longer?

The line officers of my squad carry Vertex VX-900 portables. They do have the capability to use MDC-1200 signaling...IF you purchase the signaling card

NYPD supposedly switched over to Vertex because the bid was lower, and also because Motorola would not modify radios to NYPD standards like they did with the SSE5500 Saber. Funny, because Motorola now owns Vertex...

Do they use it for assigning job, Ect?
Or is it something that us citzens of the state of New York pay for and they dont use?

It's more you citizens of the City of New York who are paying for something that doesn't get used.
