I'm receiving "Central Dispatch" doing radio checks on 159.225R, 151.43 input.
I do not listen to DEC law enforcement much, but this is the first time I have noticed the "Central Dispatch" callsign. It was usually Raybrook. Now I did just hear Raybrook with a different dispatcher.

Also, the first time I heard central Dispatch calling our Northville office, I was receiving CD full scale on the input.

They must be doing checks on their new statewide VOIP system.

Who is this "Central", what areas do they cover, and do they dispatch calls?

In my area, Orange County, an EnCon officer told me that they get most of their follow-up assignments over e-mail, since they work out of their homes.

As far as responding to calls, whenever I have heard them they were being called by either the dispatcher at the SP Middletown or Monroe or by Orange County 911 on Polling.

The only traffic I have heard on their channel has been car to car type stuff.

I also have been hearing Central Dispatch, My Brother-in-Law a Ranger with DEC told me that they are taking over the majority of dispatch duties Statewide that Raybrook was handing. In order for one central location to be able to transmit over all the Encon Towers they are using the internet. Due to Raybrook's location, it would have been extremely expensive to install the necessary equipment that would have allowed Raybrook to assume this Statewide function. When Central Dispatch is fully operational, Raybrook will assume their Regional duties.

Its called ROIP (Radio Over Internet Protocol). Eventually Central Dispatch in Albany will dispatch for the whole state as opposed to Raybrook. As a matter of fact they have been talking about getting rid of Raybrook and other all the other regional centers in the state to save money.

"I heard 710 to Central off of Oswego" twice this afternoon while driving around in Watertown (on Region 6 159.465 94.8pl). Never heard "Central" but he did come back on and say "Log me out of service as of 1600."

I have heard the rangers using the ECO repeater 159.225 to check in and out of service and using their repeater on 159.435 between units. Have been referring to 225 as dispatch ie "Gore Dispatch" and 435 as "Gore Tactical". Previously the rangers and ECOs stayed on their own repeaters (kinda dumb) unless working together or unable to reach their own repeater. It would seem they are realigning the utilization of their tower systems now that they are going to Central Dispatch. Does anybody have any further information on this.

Just a bit of info if I may. I am receiving your Central Dispatch DEC in Perth Ontario with a very loud and clear signal. I am about 88 kilometers north of the US canada border 1000 islands crossing.
