Oakland P25 is back online

In a curious twist, the Oakland P25 system is back on the air. Current control channel 852.8875, no voice activity observed.

The control channel is out of tune and centered around 852.875, which UC Berkeley's conventional backup channel. That could be very annoying if they ever plan on using it...

I occasionally hear the P25 control channel from Oakland. I don't know that it ever went off the air. Oakland was very leery of the EBRCS system and wanted to leave their P25 system in place as a backup. I have it on good authority that they still have all the radios on chargers ready to go too.

Yup. Their notoriously unreliable P25 system. As a backup for a well established regional P25 system. I didn't say it made sense.

I am told that the system was never taken offline, but it's no longer maintained. The Fire Station 28 site is no longer online.

Someone finally found the power cord plugged in and asked what it was for

So I haven't been around scanning for a long time...i just found my psr-500 and my bcd396t scanners and they work. I use to be able to hear the old Oakland EDACS system from where i stay by SFO in Millbrae. My question is There something i can read to get a better handle on how and what sites of the EBRCS so I could monitor , Oakland, Hayward, livermore/pleasaton and of course the ACSO.

Do i use the sites located in Alameda County only?

Oakland will be on ALCO Northwest
Hayward will be on ALCO Southwest
Livermore/Pleasanton will be on ALCO East
ACSO should be on all of the ALCO sites
