Is the Ocean City Beach Patrol using the EDACS system?

The Radio Reference dabase lists them as using talk-groups 0323 and 0324, but I've never heard any activity....not even this weekend when I know OC Medic 4 was responding to a neck injury on the beach.

Does the database have incorrect TGs, are they using conventional radios or are they really that quiet on the air?

Those are the talkgroups I heard them on during the Fire Convention.

Heard them talking assignments, weather and so on.

The one guard that was near us, left his radio on all the time with high volume, so listening while playing was good!

I Agree

I must Agree with Spanner while at the Firemens Convention I also heard the beach patrol on those talkgroups, they were talking about a mammal rescue on the beach at 51st street.

OC Police Simulcast

When I was down last week for the convention, I was too lazy to program the OC 800mhz system into my scanner, so I used the non-trunked Simulcast channels and noticed the OC Police are not coming across 460325 or 460150........but the FD was fine........I guess they no longer simulcast the PD ???? Anyone know .....??

Found my problem. I was running the OC talk-groups with the Worcestere County frequencies. The only TGs I received were the ones that were common to both the City and the County systems.

While checking this out, BTW, I spotted what I think is a typo in the OC database. The system frequency list shows position #06 as 857.7373. I suspect that should be 857.7375.

(The incorrect freq must have been entered by a ham)!

Okay fellow scannist. Now I have a problem that I need help on. I spent the 4th in OC and had 2 scanners a pro-95 and a pro-2067 programmed to OC and Worcester County. I used win95 and win 92 to program the respective radios and neither worked. They would scan in the open position but none of the TG worked in the closed position. The radios also seemed to display different TG's numbers each time the same TG keyed. I made sure the logical order of the freqs were correct. I also made sure all of the boxes were correctly marked in the programs and even reloaded the scanners using the different ways of showing the TG's (DES and AFS).

Is there something I missed programming the scanner? I know the system didn't change that much. I racked my brain all week. Okay maybe not all week, but I did think about it a couple of times. I even tried to program it after a night of drinking. I do my best thinking then.

Thoughts/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike -

Afraid I can't help. I use the Pro-96, programmed with Win-96. I just returned from ten days of listening to Ocean City, including the fire they had on the Northside Park pier that was set by the fireworks. Didn't try it in the closed mode, but in the open mode the TG numbers matched what they were supposed to be receiving. (Beach Patrol reunited 95 lost/found kids with parents on 7/4)!

OC EDAC's

After we returned from the fireworks at the inlet, I started listening to the scanners in the open mode. Of course it was loaded with radio traffic. I did pick up the pedestrian struck on 77th but only heard brief talk about pulling handlines back so they could set the remaining five or six tubes of fireworks off. Kind of figured they set the marsh off up there. I didn't hear about the pier until I listened to the news the next morning. The wind was stiff out of the SE and some of the fireworks were raining down on some of the boardwalk businesses.

Well, I think I need another vacation to work on this problem. Yeah...that's the ticket.

BTW....Did anyone hear the USCG Eastern Shore hailing the 27 foot vessel that didnt return to OC from a fishing trip to the canyons. I never did hear the the outcome on that.
