Sweet radio. They are getting 07 heads too for FPP. I think this setup is like over 10K for sure.

$8642 per the latest price book, O7 remote, all bands enabled, AES, etc.
Option to delete bands @$580 per band.
$8955 for dual control head option.

That is a lot of zones!!
I mean, my day to day load out for a single system is 46 zones of 16 channels each. I can very easily add two more systems similar to their load out and have a need for an additional 40 zones very easily. Texas DPS has 188 zones in their radios...and that doesn't even cover everything they need.

Not to be nit picky, but it's not FFP, it's FPP (Front Panel Programming) as opposed to "face front programming". It's good practice to keep terminology consistent amongst fire agencies.

And when selecting MPL, it's best to select the box in CPS that allows the MPL (tone) to stay identified on the screen. It's a huge help. Otherwise the tone flashes on the screen briefly then disappears.

Otherwise, really good video. That's a lot for average fire folks to digest.

We are retrofitting our fleet of apparatus with 8500's (as well as APX6000/8000's) and this was a pretty good over view of the radio and I may recommend this to others learning the radio.

I agree with the FPP comment above as well with terminology, though I doubt most people will use this, but great option to have. As an added note, the RCL button under ScnL is an under-utilized function in my opinion. By repeatedly pressing the RCL button, one can see all the channels in the scan list and delete/change the channels within the list easily without having to hunt down the zone with the channels in it for editing/deleting. Very handy with a radio and lots of zones that you need to edit quickly.

Also agree with the MPL and having the onscreen tone display, we have that feature turned on and its huge benefit for the Calfire command channels and local nets. One last item and it may depend on how the radio is programmed, but our radio techs setup a dark mode option for night time use with a long press of the DIM button and reversed the backlight and text colors. Huge help at night with preserving night vision!
