Last info (as of last week) is that there is a plan to use the RMA TG's for interop between fire agencies on DPS and OKC. There was no talk of patching the Tac's and they probably won't. It is just as easy for the dispatchers to patch a Fire Tac to the RMA TG's so this will probably be what happens. This is where a large majority of the interop stuff will take place anyway for Fire related stuff. It just makes more sense to put two or more agencies on a side co-channel (RMA) for working together and free up the primary channels for regular operation outside of the incident. For instance you would not want to tie up Nich/Vill 6A, Edmond Fire TAC, OKC Fire TAC, and say MWC Fire TAC and link them all together for fighting a wildfire. If you move them to the shared channel then they can each free up their local resource for other calls. So in the interest of the bigger picture I doubt you will see a "hard-patch" to the FD tacs. I could be wrong though.

that doesn't even make sense. Why would OKC do the same thing as another agency a couple hours away, when none of the same conditions exist? I think you're little bird doesn't know what he's talking about.

The plan is to marry/patch all the stand alone T.R.S. to the state T.R.S...

That does sound logical but then why are the Fire Tacs going to Mixed and not just stay D??

The only thing that is mixed mode about the fire tacs themselves is that the dispatcher talks in analog. That has been that way from the get go.
If something on the links is coming over analog it patches it in analog. The system tends to keep the incoming traffic in it's native format (whatever format it reaches the system in) when rebroadcasting. This is the same as from the beginning also.

They could use the SMA/RMA's for interagency comm's by linking the native TG to the RMA at the dispatch console. That would be the easiest way and that is what the RMA's are for...common mutual aid.

MCFD will most likely have a few TG's that it sticks to like it has channels now.
