I' m currently staying in San Patricio county I was passing through Odem the other day and saw a non descript Odem Police cruiser pulling a vehicle over, I already knew about the San Patricio S.O. and their frequency in the data base, but I had not thought Odem a population of around 2k had it's own PD. The interesting thing about the cruiser is that instead of being a vanilla type vehicle it has the words Odem PD on the door in faded letters that can barely be made out, obviously this is very all intents and purposes a low profile cruiser, at any rate the data base does not include Odem PD only the FD, If it's on the San Patricio EDC their are no identifiers in the DB for the tag or talk group. I have been doing regular service searches in the 155-157 range and so far all I've heard is the S.O. sounds like it's P25 even though the DB lists it as non and this one frequency not sure what it is. Any idea what the frequency is for them?

Based on google searches, Odem just established its police department and hired a chief in 2018, not expecting to hire officers until 2019. The budget in the latest article I read said $150000 for salaries. That isn’t very much since the chief takes $53k of that. Prior to that, they were paying Sinton PD to patrol Odem, and when the contract price increased, they relied on SPSO to patrol for cheaper. I would imagine that they are dispatched by SPSO on their frequency, or maybe Sinton PD. Listen for unit numbers and where they are making stops and responding to calls at. Cross reference the addresses on google maps and you should be able to nail them down.

I appreciate the info, it all makes sense, I"m not sure about that Chiefs salary it does seem excessive for such a small town, at any rate it did not occur to me that it could be on the same frequency, I've had similar situations where I've lived where one PD and SO were dispatched on the same frequency, I'll keep you posted on what I learn, one thing though I don't see a frequency for Sinton PD listed, I checked for San Patricio and on the 4 counties coastal bend but I did find site 002 in the 700 range, perhaps that's it, but no IDs any idea what it is? thanks

I don’t know, $53k is what we pay school teachers these days. I’m certainly not taking a law enforcement job these days for that pay.
