Should be in the Newark PD archive for March 7, 6:30pm to 9:00 pm. It was a large response and gained extensive media coverage.
Two detectives were investigating illegal weapons when a 14-year-old opened fire on them as they arrived. One died and the other was injured. The gun was a modified Glock pistol with an auto sear. The teen was part of a larger group. 14-year-old charged with murder after Newark cop shot with automatic weapon
The funeral was massive and had hundreds of officers in police cars from throughout the state. Some also from as far as Connecticut, Philadelphia, and NYC. It went through Newark, Belleville, and Bloomfield. Here's some videos.
