I did get Win97 and can upload my freqs to the program and download to my scanner. I thought there were other downloads available from people, but I can't find them for Pro-97.
Thanks for your help.

Ref: 800 Mhz rebanding: Pro-97 / Pro-2055

Looks like our only hope may be via Winstarr software. Got this back from Radio Shack customer service via e-mail:

Thank you for the e-mail,

Unfortunately, there is not an option to reconfigure the PRO-97 or
PRO-2055 to handle the rebanding. The Pro-96, and Pro-2096 will.

RadioShack products have a 30-day no-questions money-back warranty
in part to ensure that your purchase is what you really need. If
the product does not perform as anticipated, it can be returned within
30 days of purchase with the packaging and receipt to any RadioShack
for a complete refund.

To better assist you with future questions, please respond to this
original email with the REPLY option.

Thank you,
Lori

Customer's Question:

I currently own a Pro-97 and am considering purchase of a Pro-2055. But
I am trying to find out if these radios will be able to flashed or
reprogrammed to support trunk tracking of Motorola systems after the 800
Mhz band is "rebanded". Thank you.

Pro-97 and rebanding - PLAESE HELP before 30 days are up

I do not know whether or not to take this as gospel and return my Pro-97. Can anyone else please share your thoughts on the subject before my 30-day return period expires.
Thanks so much for any and all input.

I believe earlier in this forum Don Starr suggested it might be possible to upload a new frequency table into the Pro-97 to do the rebanding. This effects only Motorola trunk tracking after your local spectrum has been reallocated, which could be quite some off. The reply was from Radio Shack, so it only reflects their view of the issue - that they won't be flashing the radios for owners. Whether or not it can be done via after market software applications is perhaps another issue.

The Pro-97 remains a fine radio for many other types of listening and frequency finding even if it can't be rebanded. But this has put my plans to purchase a Pro-2055 on hold for a bit, until we learn something definitive. Decisions, decisons... Either way, I'm keeping my Pro-97.

signal stalker question

I know this may have been covered already. But, I will ask anyway. Is there a way to put the radio in stalker mode, leave it unattended for a few hours and have it automatically store frequencies that it detects activity on? Any help is appreciated. The manual says nothing about this.

Though the news about the Pro97 and rebanding sounds promising at http://www.strongsignals.net/access/news/news.cgi?type=single&section=radio&entry=1510 I am a little confused about part of the answer. I would think the Motorola Trunk systems below 866MHz would still have a problem with the FCC channel numbers changing even if the frequencies will remain the same after rebanding. Is the GRE team saying that the FCC's ch numbers don't affect the way GRE radios follow trunking as it appears they do for Uniden's and Motorola's radios? This would be great news for many GRE owners but surprising. If the GRE crew is around can you shed a little more light?
