I know this is an old thread but I'm having pretty much the same issue with the same TG. Just wondering if anyone knows what the cause is? I can hear OSP calls fine but the majority of the time the sheriff tg is trash

not much you can do about simulcast distortion....maybe try a yagi antenna, or buy a SDS 100 or 200

The OP is in a county with 1 tower. Also, if the information listed about the Ohio MARCS-IP: Multi-Agency Radio Communications system is correct, no county around the OP's county has simulcast sites.

For what it's worth..My SDS 100 and 200 work GREAT on Ohio MARCS

For what it's worth, I started monitoring the MARCS system using a couple of PRO-197s. They are both still in use by a friend in a neighboring county. About the time MARCS became MARCS-IP, I had a WS1080. Now, I use a PRO-668 (which will become a WS1080 after an upgrade). All work(ed) GREAT.

I am in a county with no simulcast sites, nor do the counties that surround me have simulcast sites.

2. Can someone explain a little better how to set up Skywarn?

Do you know if you have any Skywarn activity in your area? If so, obtain the frequencies that are used for Skywarn activities. On a Whistler WS1040, the Skywarn frequencies should be programmed and mapped to 22 – The SKYWARN Scan List. Then when you do FUNC + WX it activates Skywarn.

:) An FYI, the 'upgrade' to your 468, as of 1 March, went up $10.00. :)

That's what I get for waiting. I also missed the price reduction around the holidays. Good thing there is a 10% coupon posted on the page. I wonder if upgrades have slowed causing the increase?

@kf8yk said in the other thread that it could be encryption. It seems odd they would have some/most but not all mobiles encrypted. Maybe slowly adding it? Is there anything else other than encryption or simulcast it could be? Just trying to cover all bases, thanks.

I just got a whistler trx-2 scanner. I live in Delaware County. I can receive Delaware County fine, but am unable to hear any Marcs traffic at all. I loaded the tower sights and frequencies. Any ideas what I have done wrong?

If you attach your configuration file, I will check it for problems. The Delaware County system on COIRS uses 800 MHz frequencies and it works OK. Since the Riverview site on MARCS uses 700 MHz frequencies and doesn't work, I suspect that under Site Options, you need to change Trunking Tables to Auto Fill. COIRS and MARCS must be setup as 2 separate systems.

Thanks for the response. I have the Delaware system working fine. I can't get any response from the Marcs, not even a control channel indicator. Where is the configuration file located and what's it called?

Connect your scanner to your computer. Go to the Scanner/SD Card tab. Copy Configuration From Scanner Memory/SD Card. Click Yes at the Overwrite Warning. That will read the contents of the scanner and place it in the configuration. Go to the File tab, Save Current Configuration to Archive. Give the file a name and Save it. It's easier keeping track of the files with a name other than a CDAT number. In your post, click on Attach files and Open the file. It should be in the Documents folder.

You don't have any scan lists enabled for the talkgroups on the MARCS system. I would try using the Riverview, Delaware County site only. The scanner will waste all of its time checking unusable sites. Are you using zip code? There are only a few talkgroups on the MARCS system specifically for Delaware County.
