Heard TGID 44464 (Troop J) tonight on Guthrie’s system. The database doesn’t show an Enid or Garfield Co. location on the OKWIN system. Additionally, I sometimes hear Troop-K traffic from the far northern areas of Troop-K on the Stillwater system. My ignorance is abundant - how is this happening?

It doesn't necessarily mean that all the users are near the Guthrie site.

Right - but it does mean that the user needs to be near one of the 800 sites, correct? Meaning, I hear OHP personnel talking while in the Blackwell area, but I hear them on the Stillwater system. I understand they are affiliated with the Stillwater system, but if they're in Blackwell, how are they reaching the system?

The users have to either be within range of an OKWIN site or there could be a patch between OKWIN and some other system. Maybe the Stillwater site covers that far north.

Here are the sites. Not sure if outdated or not. I’d hope it wouldn’t be though.

Well according to that map I count 42 Sites, looking at OKWIN and OKWIN P-25 combined I see 41 sites listed...
Not sure which site may be missing from the database.

It's useless now. It looks like they quit updating it almost a year ago.
It doesn't have Creek Co. Simulcast, Drumright, Velma or the two Shawnee P25 sites.

There is another new site near Langley and the ones that have been licensed for years in the panhandle but I don't know if any of those are on the air yet.

The map shows simulcast sites as the individual site locations but the database shows simulcast sites as one site. When you take that into account there are more sites in the database than the map.

I'm still confused about how I can hear OHP personnel, seemingly in the far northern portions of Kay and Osage County, on the Stillwater site. How does that work?

All OKWIN sites are networked. In theory, you can drag your talkgroup with you to any site you happen to be affiliated to (real radios, not scanners). In practice, that's not true of ALL talkgroups.

I believe, though I'm not certain, that there are a few talkgroups that light up all sites whether or not there are subscriber units (we used to call them "radios") on that talkgroup affiliated to a particular site or not.
