That time is here to spread the scanning cheer boys.

Dates: Nov 7, Nov 14, Nov 21, Nov 28
Time 7:00pm
This is an East Side month.
Where: Need suggestions!

14th is bad for me and is my only vote for days. The Food selection...well we have that Chinese wonderland in Midwest City that is always good.

I am down for Furr's Cafeteria. Just north of the Golden Palace on Air Depot. As for the date, I vote the 21st this time. I will be coming back from Nascar after this next weekend and will not be budgeted for any meals!

Ok, so I am being a little selfish.

I'm gonna vote for the 7th or the 28th. I would think lots of people might be travelling for turkey-day around the 21st (oh wait, this is Oklahoma - nobody travels!) - well, I might be anyhow. The 7th is quick, but it's not all that quick. The 28th puts us into prime shopping season and other holiday scheduling nightmares.

Maybe we should try to have a "topic" or a "build" or something like we tried to do last year. We need to keep one-uping the Tulsa crowd, and now that they are catching on the idea of scanner meetings, we'll just have to do better :D .

Anyone want to learn anything in particular? I know food is always fun and a good way to get people together, but maybe we could build data slicers or have a "program a newbie's radio" night.

Tech night is always cool. :)

If that is something group would like to do, we should think about meeting @ MetroTech and order some pizza. An item of discussion that affects everyone sooner or later is the proper termination of coax for either custom patch cables or a drop to a new antenna.

I gots a large spool of something laying around everyone can practice on ...

I have crimpers, connectors, cutters...you name it. What I would like to do would be a discriminator tap on two or three different radio's. A eatery obviously wouldn't be good for this as soldering might be involved.

Install a few discriminator taps and setup the software and see how it all works! Run some coax connections as well. Use some short jumpers of say 2 feet to practive on. Do the programming also for someone that would like their handheld loaded up but hasn't the time or patience.

Awesome idea guys. Just need a place we can spend 2 or 3 hours at and not have to worry about spreading out a bit. I have access to several meeting rooms that would give us enough room plus provide electrical power for various items.

Anyone else have input?

I'm gonna up my vote for the 7th also - my 28th just got busy.

So we need to find a place to meet pronto!

CSI - you have any meeting rooms, or do we want to save that for next month and just eat out this time?

The 7th will work, but I still vote for Furr's. Someone else has to like Furr's besides me.

Jan should work for the taps, gives me time to get a meeting room. The 7th would be too short on notice.

I just stepped in from my trip to Dallas.

There were no control channels detected at either the proposed Davis aor Marietta DPS sites, not that I was - really - expecting any.

Sorry CSI, Furr's just doesn't do it for me either.

The Chinese place is fine with me, the rest of you can settle on a date and I'll see you there.

Furrs would be ok with me, but it sounds like multiple peopoe have problems with that. Maybe we can hit a Lubys or something at a future meeting.

I can be at the Chinese place near SW 15 & Air Depot (?) on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.

Come on, folks! All of you are young, vital individuals with questionable pasts and bright futures. What’s with all this cafeteria talk? The problem with cafeterias is that you have to slide your tray along that metal tubing thingy; then move your walker; then scoot your tray…

I realize that the AARP will be pounding on my door before too much longer, but, please, I ain’t ready for the cafeteria yet! I thought that they were going to throw me ouy of Johnnie's when I showed up wearing a Soccer outfit!

Hey! I ate at Johhny's when I was in OKC (2004) working at the House of Reps as a page and it was pretty good!

Can you get burgers there? If so, would that make them FurrBurgers? Oh Folta...paging Folta, sounds like the OKC crowd is getting closer to having our kind of meeting!
