“Operation STAND” starts this afternoon in Oklahoma County and should provide some very interesting scanner listening. STAND is for State Trooper And Deputies. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office are working together on a 12-hour aggressive traffic enforcement program that will include checkpoints around the county.* There should be plenty of radio traffic on both systems from 4 pm today to 4 am tomorrow.

The Highway Patrol has already stage their new million dollar hi-tech mobile command post, known as "Command One,"*on Shartel by the county jail. For info about the new CP see: http://www.ok.gov/homeland/Regional_Response_System/Mobile_Communications_and_Command_Unit/

Well, that sure explains all of the testing on DPS 1 earlier this afternoon between the Command Post and "County". Thanks for the heads up.

I did put they wouldn't let me take any pictures. I first walked into the back and there is a the command center if you will. A large area with a table and two huge tv one that shows all of the cameras on the truck and the other showing what ever they want While I was in there I think they were watching ESPN... Next while walking into the middle of the trailer is where all the dispatcher were sitting. In the middle they were set up for 6 radios. One side had all of the OHP stuff and the other side was ready for another agency to staff it.

Now to the brains of the truck. We walked thru a door and there sat all of the radios for the state and as well a a radio for patching. He told me what it was but I forgot. Also back here was another tv screen. This is where they can pick what was up on the big screens. They can look at any computer that was in the trailer as well as the tv or camera feeds.

Outside the truck is a large tv that is hidden as well as two big speakers. During a emergeny they can set up and have a briefing. Also two large canopy.

The trooper that showed me around said that the command post can be on the road and once it is on scene can be up and running in about an hour and a half. All OHP dispatchers are trained to work it since they are located all over the state. At a cost of over 1.1 million dollars I will have to say that this thing is bad to the bone. It was modeled after the one that they use in Maryland and in Michigan

Special thanks to the OHP for allowing me to take my pictures and see the inside.

Here are the final numbers:

On Saturday, October 27, 2007, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, in conjunction
with the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office, conducted a 12-hour special
traffic enforcement emphasis in Oklahoma County, nicknamed, Operation STAND

enforcement emphasis of its kind in the history of Oklahoma County. The
operation initiated with a briefing at 1500 hours on the 27th and concluded
at approximately 0300 hours on the morning of the 28th. The operation
consisted of roving patrol and driver's license safety checkpoints, which
were established in various parts of the county.

A total of 51 commissioned Oklahoma Highway Patrol members assigned to

made at least one custodial arrest during the operation. Troopers issued a

Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office. During the course of the
operation, there were NO vehicle pursuits and no reported Trooper related

Hey OSUTrooper good pics! HOWEVER, this is a radio forum. You forgot to get a cool picture of the top of that radio mast. You did catch the name of the rig's manufacturer so I checked the web for AK Specialty Vehicles.

Apparently, right after delivery of this unit, the Oshkosh Truck Corp. purchased AK and renamed the company. Below is a link about the C-53TX-4 that OHP purchased and here is what Frontline, their brand name, says about the Command C-53TX:

"The Command 53TX is a custom designed trailer featuring up to 869 square feet of interior space with its two large slide-out sections."

"This monster is primarily designed to be located at special events and other long term commitments. Designed and crafted to be moved daily, this unit really shines at events lasting one to two weeks at a time."

I like the phrase, "this monster." Here is their picture of the OHP rig at delivery, without the graphics and logos:

Here is a photo and description of the C-53TX, with a Massachusetts Logo:

I just remembered, when I was younger and single, my first apartment was around 850 square feet.

I tired all afternoon to go over there and take daylight pic but due to staffing here I couldn't break away. I did take one of the mass but due to the lights on the back the picture came out with nothing but a blur
