If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

CPS 16 nor CPS2.0 will read the radio or write it.

Update in CPS 16 doesnt show available packages even though all I can get from MyView are installed. CPS2.0 shows the radio in the update screen but "none" for codeplug or firmware update options.

I believe I need R14 or R15 CPS to update the radio, Any help would be great, theyre not available in myview.

As has been discussed here many times.

R02.50.nn is really R02.05.nn (Motorola's Abacus was broken at the time) and to move that forward you have to get it to R02.06 / R02.07 and you need a very old CPS 13.5/14.0 to do that. Once that is done you can go to R02.09 with CPS 16 or R02.10.05 with CPS 2.0 and then add the SUM entitlement and then as far as you want to go. M2023.01.07 (this week) is now current, But expect M2024.01 in 1st quarter.

Yes, but unfortunately I can not locate 2.06 through 2.09 or an older CPS. Any help pointing to either would help me bring this portable up to 2.09 for CPS 16

You should still be able to read the radio in CPS16 with that older firmware - I'd assume you have a bad cable/connection problem instead of focusing on a software problem. Then again, if you have written to the radio before with CPS 2.0 - you're pretty much screwed for going backwards in Firmware & trying to use CPS16 to update. You would need to update to the earliest CPS 2.0 Firmware 02.10.xx as suggested above.

Obtaining 2.09 will fix my issue, the issue is that the radio was read and then written to in CPS and its firmware version and codeplug version mismatch. I can no longer read or write without an error due to this. The codeplug version matches 2.09 firmware. It has never seen CPS 2.0.

Does anyone have a source for the 2.09 firmware? I have a support email entered in MyView, but they take several days and who knows if they will show it in my portal.

The only reason to update firmware would be to take advantage of newer features added to later versions of the radio. Things like Radio Mute, enhanced GPS, etc. If you have a newer version codeplug with some of those features that you're trying to stuff into an older unit by cloning, then yes - you could have an issue that would be fixed by updating firmware.

If you just read your existing codeplug, modify/change it within the parameters available within that codeplug, it should write back to the same radio - even using a 'newer' CPS version like CPS16, and even if you're still stuck on an older version Firmware.

I don't believe Motorola support is offering any firmware for the older CPS 16. They pretty much removed all the older version supports once they killed off MOL & moved all software & firmware things over to MyView. You could always pay a local shop to update your firmware to R 02.09.0001 if you can't find it anywhere.

You should be able to load the 2.06 firmware with CPS16 then you can do the 2.09 package.
