Hello all...I am a past scanner user but have just become a new one due to a birthday gift. I'm pretty sure that my family got tired of me talking about the hobby that I've really missed. It's been 30 years since I've listened to the fire/police calls while working in the shop!
My, how things have changed in the setup and technology! It's a big learning/re-learning curve for me, but I look forward to it.
The unit is a Uniden BCD996P2. I'm fine on the programming side on the unit (I think). My expectation is that I'll screw up creating the Systems/Sites/Groups/Channels several times before getting it correct.
I've been playing around with it this morning for the first time (picking frequencies from web searches), but I'm having trouble picking anything up. Any advice/help with frequencies and would be great.
I'm in the Village of Menomonee Falls, Waukesha County
BTW...I don't expect this to be "plug-and-play" (and it's not for sure!). This is going to be a chore (and I'll learn a lot) getting it set up and I look forward to it. I'd rather learn instead of having someone set it up for me. I'm sure my family will appreciate me being out of their hair as well!
