Went to the St. Louis Science Center today with my grandson and his parents. We watched "Train Time". A very good film that follows a BNSF from Chicago, to Los Angeles, to Seattle and back to Chicago. Beautiful scenery, both drone and helicopter as well as many close ups. The movie covered a little history, but mostly explained how modern trains are tracked with computers and satellites, as well as improved safety features. Many close up views of the employees and radio usage along the route. I would highly recommend the film as long as you don't get an upset stomach due to the massive screen display. Have fun if you go.

On the way there we had to stop for a long sliw moving coal train headed west through StL. Here is an interesting sign at the crossing.

Was there any railroad radio content in this film?

Great info, I will go this week. As far as the sign, I see it at least once a week when I get stopped at that crossing. I know it's bad when I see locomotives in the middle. Dang those trains can be long.

There is a lot of radio chatter throughout the film but no specific mention or coverage of radio usage. Computer and satellite tracking was covered a bit with some views of a main nationwide command center.

That area of StL is on the northern edge of the historic Italian "Hill" neighborhood along Macklind Ave. What was interesting about that train was how slow it was moving. Thought we would be late for the show.

I was told by a train hobbyist some years ago that those tracks were used to transport coal from the Montana?? area of the country to a big electric power plant in southern IL. Not sure if that still happens.
