FBI — Twenty-Two Charged in Alleged Drug Trafficking Conspiracy

Heard at least two FBI aircraft involved in this operation. JENA 52 (N731CL) was northbound from Clermont County AP (I69) around 0500L.

121.000 CVG Approach > 118.850 DAY Approach > 119.150 CMH Approach

After switching to 118.850, he accidentally transmitted ops traffic on the wrong radio: made two calls to "TOC" as "Cincinnati 500" on "Echo 1." Encrypted comms followed on 171.6875 $167 (the Cincinnati repeater) and continued throughout the early morning.

He told the CMH controller that he was working halfway between the city of Columbus and Columbus IAP in the same location as "the other JENA flights." Asked for 500' separation from 4000'-5500', which leads me to think that there were at least four aircraft.

I heard JENA 22 and JENA 52 returning southbound several hours later. I don't have an ID for JENA 22.

Nice. Four aircraft would be a first for me. Most I've heard (in Chicago) has been three fixed wing, in the late 1970s. Two FBI, one ATF, working El Rukn.

I had 171.6875 written down, but I think you're correct, it should be 171.9875 since that is the usual Cincinnati freq. I was still a little groggy since the radio woke me up.

Also, did some checking and the voice calling as "Cincinnati 500" matched JENA 22, not 52.
