Burlington, Cambridge and Port Credit cars also seem to patrol the 407. Program those 3 tgs plus the Aurora tg and the Niagara tg since Pt. Credit and Cambridge are often patched together and Burlington and Niagara as well.

I've heard lots of actvity on the HWY talkgroup in relation to the Pay Duty officers on the 407 (that is to say, the officers that patrol the 407 on a regular basis aren't "on duty", they're a pay-duty by the 407 ETR company).

This talkgroup is usually patched to the 1OPS38 talkgroup though.

What's the best tower to listen to for the 407? King City?

Depends on which end of that 100 km route you are interested in.
The western end is at QEW in the Oakville area and the closest tower is Hamilton.
At the extreme other end you have Brock Rd. so you may want to have Whitby.

So, the possibilities are Hamilton ,Mississauga, Toronto , King City, Whitby ... whichever
is suitable for your locale.

Thanks for the help... I guess I thought there may have been a special 407 TG or something as I rarely ever hear anything regarding the 407 on the normal talk groups... I guess I just have to pay more attention to the transmissions :-D

Hey guys,

FYI I just heard one unit asking for another, and the dispatcher said the unit was on the 407TG. So there actually is a 407 TalkGroup.

Take Care

Which tower were you monitoring? I've got trunker running at home right now so hopefully today an 8000 series talkgroup will appear that I haven't seen before and I can confirm this...

Hey Jellotor,

It was the King Tower, but did not catch the same unit on 407TG.
I'm missing a Freq on that system so I might have miss it.
Keep on forgeting to enter it.

Will keep on listening to look for the talk group.
Take care

So it would be 8656 1OPS38 Aurora 5Bravo and variations thereof .
Thanks kap :)

Y'know, that would make a whole lot of sense. For the last few weeks I've been seeing 1OPS38's patches and multiselects popping up on the Hamilton site. Was kind of wondering why...I assumed a highway unit was in the area but couldn't confirm. Betcha it was the 407 units on that talkgroup...

I just checked with trunker and the only thing I see patched with 1OPS38 is 1GTR which is where I would expect 407 units to hang out.

I haven't checked in a few days but I believe that 1OPS38 was patched with 1OPS40 last week (possibly Thursday or Friday) as I remember hearing 5D units call Orillia.

That said, it's not a patch that I've noticed very often, if it was there at all. I guess we can safely assume, then, that 1OPS38 is going to pop up on Ballinafad as well as the Hamilton site.
