I haven't heard anything from the OPP lately in Zone 1, guess everyone's behaving themselves lol. Well actually not hearing any service on Zone 1, ambulance, MTO, MOT, MNR, nothing.

I had noticed that in my area the past week too, especially at night... the radio is very quiet. London EMS is always busy but beyond that it's been pretty quiet, which I guess is a good thing really. With these cool nights I've been picking up some nice skip from Michigan pretty regularly and things always seem active over that way.

Perhaps they're performing maintenance on the system.

I'm here a lot
Caledon , Whitby, and Downsview OPP were busy today.
MTO Enforc were doing checks, MTO Kennedy and Maple had collision clean-ups as well.
For MOH , I was hearing Hamilton East , Peel North , Toronto CACC, York , Georgian
MNR is a non-issue here in Toronto , we have animals of another variety running around

Actually I have found the opposite lately around here. Now my scanner is non trunking but 410.8625 has been busier than normal. Usually only active when a cruiser is nearby, last night the signal was traveling much better. Surrounding county fire depts. also as active as usual. I have not noticed any drop in ambulance calls either.

Over the last few night here, I have been checking and rechecking my scanner, just to make sure I didn't lock out any of the frequencies. lol.. I noticed a drop too. I get Chatham Elgin and Middlesex perfect again. I guess it was just slower over the last few days than usual. Last night it was pretty busy though. I live on the 11th floor of a building and seem to be getting better than usual reception too over the last few nights.

They could be doing one of 2 things, either their on another tower your not scanning or their patching the channel on something else Caledon likes to do that on the weekends on the MNR or MTO Enforcement channels. So you may want to check that with someone running a Trunk88 program..

What constitutes a busy and non busy nite? I've been listening to a scanner for so many years, it's all background noise to me. ;)

I have the stuff from across the Lake in NY State. It usually fills in the local dead air.

Although I must say, I have been experiencing some decent marine band activity lately which is something different for me to listen to.

And of course, over the the weekend, as I travel right past a few "big" boats along the Bay of Quinte, the batteries died in the radio.

Railway traffic is also heard quite often on the radio.

Now if I could only get some signals on the DX-394 then I'd have something new to listen to.

What I have been doing is locking out all but the Oxford OPP talk groups, but that might be a mistake since they're apt to patch through other towers.

I locked out Oxford County OPP talkgroups along time ago Back in April when I got Forts copy, OPP was very busy, all I kept on is Lambton and Middlesex. But 410.8625 I got over 5202 hits and was constant, don't hear anything, very quite Lately.

I put in some other towers, Simcoe, Branford, London , Woodstock. After I put London I started hearing some transmissions, but then nothing. Very odd.

I havent seen anything out of the ordinary, I monitor Hamilton's tower and run TRUNK88 off it. The only thing I can guess is that you might be hearing a small drop in calls 'cause people are on holidays, maybe people arent driving as much because of the economy, etc.

The towers I can monitor on my commute like Mowat and Brittania as well as King City are business as usual.

I found out what the problem was. I had the scanner at a window and, oddly enough, when I have the window open the OPP signals drop. So I had to close the window and move the scanner away from the the center of the window and the signals were clear again..

Check for ghosts.. j/k Fleetnet VHF system is "finiky" sometimes

I wonder if leading up to the long weekends there are less officers on the road (they take their break/holidays now so they can be on full alert for the long weekend patrols... big long weekend coming up in a week

Yeah finiky is a good word, I put the scanner in its original spot and the signals are loud and clear there, go figure.
