• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I understand that I need to create an account at Moto solutions and then call them to have the software packages added to my catalog. I've created an account, but the website said someone from moto would need to contact me to complete the sign up. Is this the person I need to speak to about adding the software packages? If no, what # should I call? The 'contact us' page on motorolasolutions just lists an all purpose 847 area code number, not an 800# to a ordering facility.

I've never seen a company make it so difficult to give them money.

Thanks.

Replying to my own thread. Found the proper number: 800-814-0671.

I think I'm set getting an account set up w/access to the software. Next question, how does one get a 25kHz entitlement key? I want to use the 6550 on analog and digital systems.

There is an online course you have to take. When you complete the course and get your certificate and acknowledgement email, your account will be enabled for the 25 KHz entitlement. You purchase them just like any other part or software through the buying center. Their cost is $0.00 but you still have to go through checkout. Then they email the entitlement key to you.

Thanks Steve. Helpful. Do I get to the online course via the moto solutions portal?

Just a follow up in case someone else comes across this thread in the future.

Every step of the process has required opening support tickets with Motorola to move the process along to the next step. Account creation, accepting the license agreement, gaining access to software, gaining access to the training required for wideband, and finally access to order the entitlement key.

In my last conversation with an MOL rep, they acknowledged that their backend systems are error prone. The synchronization between the website and MOL workflow systems is error prone.

So if you're waiting patiently and nothing is happening, pick up the phone.
