• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Figured I'd ask it and maybe it's of interest to Unication, but support for OTA aliases would be pretty nice. As far as I know it's a pretty open/known method but I could be wrong.

While it would be nice, remember the Unication pagers are designed for professional public safety, and was found by scanner hobbyists. The commercial users program there own. Not to mention the aliases are limited to 999 entries in the pager. I would be surprised if it was added.

There are work-a-rounds to the 999 limits. I believe they have been noted here before. I monitor the Ohio MARCS system and have well over 3000 ID programmed.

Not sure that logic tracks. The Motorola APX series radios are also specifically designed for professional public safety users, and they've been capable of decoding OTA aliases on ASTRO 25 systems for nearly a decade at this point.

Anyone who has ever dealt with the UCL (alias list) in those radios will tell you what a huge PIA it is keeping it up to date, having to touch every radio to update the codeplugs if you don't have OTA programming, etc. For those agencies who care about displaying the aliases and making sure they're current, OTA aliases (Group Services) was a very welcome enhancement.

Good point I didn't consider. Thanks for the comment.

On a rollout now. I feel Group Services is a remarkable feature.
At the same time I have my concerns. On my Uni’s for sure would be most welcome.

In today’s world it would seem to me, PII (Personally Identifiable Information)
would be kept secure.

At a minimum Doxxing of would be of significant concern. Why broadcast LAST NAMES? This information OTA can be sliced. Not good.

Badge Numbers Only. BOLO. Thoughts welcome @GTR8000

I would agree with this as the basis for the interest. This and some version of the preferred sites would be helpful too if it could handle multi-site/zone systems. Maybe just a wish but hey if anyone at Unication is reading this...there is definitely interest in your target market.
