Hello all,
On Monday, I had the pleasure of going over to Niskayuna with the Mrs. to do some shopping. And when I say shopping, I mean she goes shopping and I take out the scanner and do some searching. While searching, I hit on a station I hadn't heard before:
157.400 MHz. / CTCSS 91.5 Hz.
It was a weaker signal from where I was, but I could hear two-tone paging for an E.M.S. service. Basically, a call at Bassett Health Center, 4520(?) State Route 28. The page was for Hartwick and Milford for a medical call. No other ID was given, and before I could give the frequency a longer look, the Mrs. was done with shopping and we went on our way.
The only thing I could think of was Otsego County, possibly testing a new V.H.F. frequency for paging? I haven't heard it since, but then again from my location in Latham I can't hear anything out of Otsego County anyways. Knowing that Columbia County is upgrading their low band system to V.H.F. using auctioned Ship to Shore frequencies, I figured maybe Otsego County was doing the same (at least for paging).
For the technical specs, I was using my Uniden BCD396XT receiver with an older magnetic mount Antenna Specialists MON-31 antenna (which IMHO is one of the best antennas I've used in years for anything UNDER 512 MHz.). The signal strength was very low, only a 1 out of 5. We were over at Mohawk Commons in the southern end of Niskayuna.
If there is anyone out in the Otsego County area that might be able to confirm this, that would be great. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't hearing some harmonic of 46.44 or getting intermod from another closer transmitter.
Kevin
