Ottawa scanner help please

Hi all hope you are doing well,


After my wife died I started listening to scanners on a app on my phone. I’ve really enjoyed listening to Ottawa police and sometimes Ottawa fire. Lately the app has become unreliable Ottawa police was down for a couple of months and is now back but on the same link as opp,ems and fire which makes listening for me very confusing!

I would like to invest in a scanner that is able to listen Ottawa fire and police and maybe listening to more as I learn. What would be a good scanner to start with? I saw posted here a picture of someone’s scanner that looked nice it was a uniden 436hp. Would this be a good unit to start out with ?

Yes. A 436HP or 536HP would be good. However you must make sure that it has the ProVoice upgrade in order to get the digital talkgroups.

They're still on the EDACS digital for the time being.

Yes.

So I got my 436HP in the mail and downloaded the Provoice key and inputted it into the radio. But i still don't seem to be able to hear anything.

Would someone be willing to help me by phone to program this? Thank you in advance!

Did you get the DMR or NXDN upgrade as well or just the ProVoice?

What are you using to program the radio and systems in it?

No, I did not get the other upgrades just the Provoice, I'm using the Sentinel software to program it
