I'm wondering where some of the submissions of conventional
frequencies for Ottawa are coming from. In the interest of having
a correct database, someone may want to check these and clean them
up. Besides, this database has a policy of accepting confirmed data,
which this is not.

- The YM/YWCA is not and never been on 453.0875. Check TAFL.

- There is no repeater for Rideau Centre on 451.1125. I have heard
this frequency used for simplex only. They may still be on 451.125 but
should be verified (I see no CTCSS or DCS listed...). This channel
has a multitude of low-power users, who don't all use the same input.

- I have never heard Carleton University Residence Security (or
anything...) on 464.325. The frequency at one time was 464.3375. TAFL
shows the former but looks like a case where it can't be trusted.

-somebody's found an input frequency for a repeater, but not the output.
The repeater is on top of a 23-storey building, but the input won't be
heard very far away, originating from inside buildings and underground
tunnels (hint). With not much extra effort, the output could be found.

Unfortunately the database admins can only take what is submitted and hope that the contributors have verified the information firsthand.

Stealing information off of somebody elses webpage can lead to all sorts of problems. A lot of info out there is incorrect or outdated. This is why we ask for confirmed information only.

Not sure who submitted them. But looking at TAFL.

464.300000 464.300000 CARLETON UNIVERSITY CARLETON UNIVERSITY HOUSING & CONFERENCE SERVICES
469.075000 464.300000 OTTAWA ONTARIO CARLETON UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF UNIVERSITY SAFETY
469.075000 464.300000 OTTAWA (UNIVERSITY CAMPUS) CARLETON UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF UNIVERSITY SAFETY

I remember when living in Ottawa, I heard Carleton U. on 464.300. I even checked my old files to see if that's where they were and sure enough, it was listed there too.

I notice though by the looks of the TAFL, there's a few users that probably use low power on 464.3375 but as Dave mentioned. Carleton U. is not lisetd there.

I had also in an old frequency file that Carelton U. had a foot patrol on 4 05-1 1fdd Carleton U. Foot Patrol from Christie & Walthers Type I Motorola System 1fdd

Yep, the admins can't police everyone making submissions...just disappointed that it creates extra work all around to got back and fix things up, versus getting it right the first time. That's why the RR DB will never see data from me that I haven't heard myself.

I'd swear that somebody's using a frequency counter, Scout, or scanner with CloseCall that's catching some of these things not quite on the right frequency (if that's where they came from).

Regarding CU on 1fdd 405-1, that one is years out of date, although still on Don's site. They could be using Time's UHF MPT-1327 system but that is not confirmed.

The other thing to remember is even if you do hear something on the frequency and try to double check it in the Canadian TAFL, not always will it be listed there.

I know I've found frequencies and had to try an figure out on my own who they are because they weren't listed in that database.
