Oxford Ohio / Miami Univeristy PD

All, I have posted once before but wanted to try again. Does anyone have information about either of these departments. I have the system programed in and have been able to hear everyone execpt the two mention. I am using the butler county dispatch channels, they have 3. ECHO is supposed to be Oxford, TANGO is Hamilton PD and ZULU appears to be Butler county officers. I have heard traffic on all but the Oxford channel. I can hear departments from as far away as Middletown, Westchester and the such, Just not a peep out of Oxford. I Live in Liberty and with the help of another member I see that there is a tower in College Corner. I don't think that is the problem. Maybe I am missing a talk group or something. Any help please.

It looks like there are a number of “DE” mode talkgroups in the Butler County listing. A number of these are for Oxford PD or Fire. This would indicate they are encrypted and therefore you would not hear anything on them.

I guess I did not see that in the list. I see a bunch of FMN Mode but I did not see anything even listed for Oxford. I guess I am looking in the wrong place?

Yup, that's I talkgroup I recommended you try in the other thread you started about this subject. I would make sure that it is enabled in your programming as well as all LEO service types. If it were me, I would hold on that talkgroup over a period of time to see it it is in use. Same for the Miami University Police talkgroups - there are several. It is possible that these departments have enabled encryption, and the RRDB has not been updated to reflect that reality. If you were computer savvy, you could install specialized software to monitor all tg activity and identify what talkgroups are active and which ones are encrypted.

There are no encrypted Dispatch talkgroups in Butler County, Tactical and Car 2 Car are encrypted.

Have you checked out the Wiki page for Butler County? There is a lot of info there on unit numbers, codes and Signals, etc. It may help aid you in to what you are hearing. Go to the Butler County database page (not MARCS) and click on the Wiki tab.

the 09 echo law talk group is not being used any more to my knowledge all traffic for oxford should be one 09 delta 9079 or 09 zulu 9179, there units start with 1 paul then there numbers

From the database... few times I've been to Oxford lately, it's been pretty quiet... The "County Dispatch" one would be Sheriff's deputies outside of the town of Oxford. Didn't know what DE meant. Good to learn. Thanks. !! What hardware/software do you use to scan ?
