I have been noticing a few P25 aliases that are being decoded are being cut-off. Is there a way to prevent this in future updates on DSD+ FastLane? The issue seems to be limited to longer aliases, many 13 or 14 characters long or longer.

14-char limit. Somebody else who is knowledgeable with actual P25 radios can explain that there is some difference between what one might see on a display of an HT on the system vs what is sent as an OTA alias. OTA Aliases are limited to 14 chars. I'm pretty sure this limitation has nothing to do with DSDPlus but simply is a limit when OTA aliases are in use on the particular site/system/radios.

I have many alias decodes that are 13 and 14 characters long in my DSD+ FL decodes that are not cut off, are you talking about longer than that?

Hi, all

I know that Harris OTA aliases are sent in 2 separate blocks on a voice channel, with each block containing a maximum of 7 characters for a total of 14 characters.

Cheers.

I believe our L3Harris XG-75Pe portables display only eight characters, so "normally" aliases are 8 or less. Not sure if the newer XL models can display the full 14. Also, over eight or so characters get cut off in our Symphony console, so the utility of a long alias is reduced. We have one chief who has a 13 character alias.

XG and older radios are limited to an 8 character alias, and do not support OTA aliasing. XL radios (and XG-100P/100M with CH-100) are a different animal and support longer aliases. However the OTA alias is still limited to only XL radios.

Yea, I don't recall ever seeing an alias on my portable or mobile - it was only the RID (SUID) - 7 characters in our case to follow the general format for Region 20. TBH, it's a moot point because we mostly use portables and they stay in their carrier so we normally don't see the display. When you change channels, you just count clicks, lol. Other users of the system who don't use speaker mics find more utility for the display so they can i-call each other.
