It tells me York Regional is watching what other departments are asking for.

I also wouldn't get too excited about the loss of Telus. Chances are the system will support encryption and the way things are going, HRPD will take advantage of it. Just keep your fingers crossed that the local fire departments don't decide to go encrypted.

Then again, they could go with the two slot tdma P25 standard and scanners will be useless until somebody releases a compatible model.

It could be also possible that Telus is still their either under another company name or a secondary company could be under contract to resell Telus ident. you would think they all would go under one type of system so they can communicate with fellow departments in say Peel.Toronto and York where need be. Weather its Motorola P25 system is debatable. But yes York is interesting unless the want to sell their current system and go to something else?

Do you have any insight as to if it will be clear or encrypted? I know you have some guys on the inside don't you?

Isn't one of the biggest problems with Telus' system is IDEN, and IDEN support is being phased out by Motorola?

If that is the case, then Durham RP is probably in the market some time soon.

I suspect that if DRP did go P25 it would be encrypted. They probably enjoy their current level of privacy afforded by IDEN
