i was looking in the data base for my area and seen p25 province wide seems to be new.
i haven't heard about this.
will this mean the rcmp will be totally unheard. would anyone know if they are using this now.
any details would be great.

Have not looked up the DB for your area of The Rock but P25 does not mean you will not hear. Encryption would lock you out.

Some talkgroups are using phase 2 TDMA modulation that you won't be able to moniter but i haven't come across this system. i can moniter grandfalls and the south coast with no problem's using the control channels haven't got any talkgroups yet

Are you monitoring it with a PRO-106 / PSR500 ?? If did you use P25 Auto or Manual? Everything west of clarenville is digital. East still on Edacs Standard.

Clarenville was audible on 155.400 (chapel arm scat channel) bits and pieces and periodically on the usual edacs listening channels however, rx transmissions have disappeared. In various sections of east nl, the old 155.970 and 155.820 Clarenville channels are outputting digital material indicating a change in operations. Eventually east nl will all be complete.

When I was over last June the I found it nessary to have all three system in the 996xt,
.
P25 for areas west of Clarenville,
EDACS standard for Northern Avalon
Scat for Southern Avalon.
The Scat and EDACS appeared to be simlicast.

I did discover the EDACS ID number for Clarenville is the same ID being used on the P25.
Maybe try the other EDACS talkgroup IDs in the P25, see what happens.

Another thing that caught my attention was that all the vhf frequenices being used by the EDACS & Scat
systems were also being used in the P25 system.

go and look at my thread( pro 106 problem) in radio shack scanner forum

...Yup, that is a lot of info alright....

159.690 is the voice channel in GFW and as well at the Botwood and Springdale sites. The control is the same channel that was used previously in the analog system before p25 replaced it. I was thinking that if the same convention was used for the rest of the district sites, then maybe, just maybe the same thing was done in Bay d'Espoir and 159.690 is actually the voice channel.

i've tried to scan all and it locks onto just one.
why is this. anyone from west coast confirm what channels are in use.

It sounds as if you don't have it programmed as a P25 trunked system, instead as just a conventional system.
