• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I have seen in some of the other regional forums lists of pager tones, how about we start gathering the info for our area and put it in the database. This could come in handy when we all start getting scanners with the tone out feature. We could collect tones for a while then turn them in to be put in the database. I would be willing to start a list and keep track of it if anyone else wants to do it.

When setting up a system for a county ambulance service up here, they
wanted to know if we could do "smoke on the water" as their tones....

Zetrons quote for special tones made them drop the idea

Lets just say that some agencies make Oakhurst Fire look professional......

That EMS service does not use pagers anyways, they just want lots of noise to
get their attention. (Their words)
