Anyone hear anything from this system? I am in Goodyear, and haven't heard anything, although I haven't listened for too long. Trying to decide if I want to keep it in the scanner.

Thanks!

I had started listening to them several years when I lived out that way. They have their own FD for in house emergencies. I thought I had found the Fire TG, Security was encrypted I believe and a lot of other plant type chatter from construction and maintenance crews.

I'm thinking it's very localized. Maybe a low-level site, that covers the plant and a short distance around it? A few miles radius, maybe?

The plant is in Wintersburg and I was in Buckeye about 20 miles away and was able to hear it without a problem. Don't how strong of a transmitter they use. Wasn't that interesting, so I didn't spend a lot of time on it

It's an aging analog trunked system, soon to be replaced with a Harris supplied P25 system as part of a total company wide (APS) upgrade. FYI

I have a very good friend who is a firefighter for APS at PVNGS, I will ask him how often they use the radios, current freqs, etc. And yes, their radio traffic is rather boring.

I work at a nuc plant.

Radio traffic is Teamsters bringing loads in and out. Security talking about the trucks coming in and out.

Security testing alarms.

Security making rounds.

Fire Protection testing equipment.

Fire Protection making rounds.

Occasionally Operations opens or closes a valve.

You might think it's interesting, but it's highly choreographed. Same stuff different day.
