I passed my Technician exam in person testing on December 14th. I was told in will take about 2 weeks for license to be issued, but my question is when do I pay the FCC fees and exactly where on the FCC web site do I look?

Congratulations and welcome to the hobby! Make sure that you have your accounts set up for the FCC Universal Licensing System (ULS) and COmmission REgistration System (CORES). Then if I remember right, once your exam team submits the paperwork and your VEC processes it into the FCC system, the FCC will send you an email notifying you that you that your application has been submitted and that you will need to submit payment on the CORES system.

Technician license is here today, KD9ZKF. Just one issue middle letter in my name is incorrect, anyone tell me the simplest way to get this issue corrected?

I think your going to have to reach out to the commission directly. I might try Wireless Licensing Help Center and see where you can get with opening a ticket there. If that does not work either contact your VE Team for advice or the ARRL.

Best of luck and 73

Simplest way is not fretting over it. So very unlikely to be a meaningful. You'll know if that M.I. starts showing up, who leaked/sold/cyber hacked your info.

While that is a very simple solution, I’d get it fixed now before it becomes an issue. While yes it is a trivial error, I’d still at least try to fix it before it creates more of a hassle down the line. I doubt you’ll get in hat water over the issue. Also from the post it seems that the typo is in either his first or last name, which I’d argue is more problematic should someone id you and want to see your license. I am aware that this is would be super unlikely, but given it might take 20 minutes total to fix I would say it’s best to fix it now and remove that potential stressor from your life.

First of all thanks for the responses, I submitted the issue to FCC wireless Licensing help site today. I wander now how long it will take to get a response.

I must say I received a response from the FCC in a couple of hours with instructions how to correct my name . All correct and very simple process. Thank you EastCoastSunrise for the link.

Now that is out of the way, you can get down to the fun part--open check book or hand over credit card! :giggle:
And welcome to the hobby!

@lottoluck as has already been said, congrats! Ka9wrz brought up a great question. There are so many different directions to take in ham radio, including continuing to expand your knowledge. Don’t stop at technician! If you like the world of amateur radio, there’s no reason not to keep learning and advancing your license to the next levels. Between here on RR and many other forums, you’ve got an endless supply of people willing to help you grow with this hobby.

73,
Alex
