Hi All,

I was wondering if there is anyway to control the search and menu functions of the 996 via online control. I have a CF-19 with touchscreen up front to control the scanner which is in the trunk. I cant find a way to use the search or menu functions because i can't turn the big knob from the computer control software. Am i missing something or is it just not possible? (I am using the supplied Uniden software).

What is a CF19 with touchscreen?

There's lots of other software for the 996 - both BCTool and FreeScan are freeware. In addition both have their own support forums (BCTool uses Yahoo, FreeScan has their own set of forums) where the authors are very active responders to questions and bugs.

Hi Mike,

I'm sorry. The CF-19 is a Panasonic Toughbook computer with a touchscreen.

I will try the other software you mentioned. Hopefully I can control more functions from my computer screen with them.
