• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I seem to have both PD362 and PD362i ... they seem to function the same, what's the difference (if any)?

To be clear, this is not a request to send me software. I am trying to figure out which software I need.

I have been trying to sync up my fleet of PD362's and am realizing that I am in version hell. I have a bunch of radios, and they seem to be two distinct sets (per the display)

Set A : PD362i - firmware V1.06.02.501, baseband V2.01.05PD_A
Set B : PD362 - firmware V2.05.05.001, baseband V2.01.05PD_A

My CMS is v2.05.15.001.NA2 and works with the "Set A" radios (even though it facially looks like a major version mismatch). Oddly, the CMS does *not* work with Set B radios. I get a "Model settings does not match." error when I try to read from the Set B radios.

So my questions are:

1 - Is there any harm in downgrading the Set B radios to V1.06.02.501 (I have that "upgrade" file). Will that even work?
2 - Is there any CMS that will work with both the Set A and the Set B radios?
3 - Can the Set A radios be upgraded to V2.05.05.001, or is there something really different between the i's and not i's?

Thanks!

Update - have an answer to my own question:

V2.06.04.502 = V1.06.02.501

The difference is purely whether the radio is a PD362 or PD362i (before and after Motorola lawsuit), and the updater figures out which to apply based on the i / no-i designation.

CMS v2.05.15.001.NA2 controls them both.
