I see that Penobscot Fire Dispatch 3 has been added to the database. Does anyone know it's intended use? As long as I can remember it was always COMM 2(Now Fire 1) for anything east of Route 15 and COMM 3(Now Fire 2) for anything west of Route 15 so not sure how a 3rd channel would fit into that split.

Not sure on this one. I took a look at the FCC site until it denied me access like normal. Seems it is a fixed station for paging on Peaked Mountain in Dixmont. That is the only location. It does show up 2 frequencies but, as I said, I was not able to view it because the FCC site denied me access. I have it in my both of my scanners (base/mobile) and will monitor it and see what I hear. So far I am not getting anything except calls on Fire 1.

I had Fire 3 in my radios when I was up that way for Easter weekend, but I didn't hear a peep, just traffic on Fire 1 and Fire 2.

When I picked the up that call I was turning around at the corner of Rt 7 and Farrar Way in Dexter.
I have a Uniden BCD996P2 scanner hooked to a 1/4 wave 2 meter NMO antenna on the roof of a minivan.
The signal was pretty scratchy from that location. I had to stop and listen and move the van forward about a foot to get it to come in after I had stopped. Once you get down into Dexter, you wont pick it up anymore. I have no idea where they are transmitting from because according to the FCC site, that frequency is registered to Peaked Mtn in Dixmont, not a tower up north. But I definitely heard tones and they were calling for the Springfield Fire Dept. which is on the other side of Penobscot County.

I'm in Bangor located very close to Chapin Park and I can hear Lincoln Fire, Howland Fire and a couple of other departments being toned out and talking on Fire 3. I did ask a friend of mine who is the Deputy Chief of Lee Fire if they got moved over to Fire 3 and he said yes.

So far today I'm hearing on FIRE 3 Springfield Fire and just now the tones dropped for East Millinocket Fire. All I'm using for an antenna is a D220 Diamond Antenna Discone mounted on a 4.5 inch mag mount which is on the steel roof of the apartment building I'm in. The weird part is this antenna doesn't have a clear line of sight with the northern part of the county at all the way the roof line is shaped.

Penobscot 9900 is currently conducting radio checks and tests on Fire 3. He is going around to different locations and checking on radio signal status. Right now he is on portable on Water Street in Howland and was coming in with a lot of static but readable. Howland Ambulance was having commo issues last night while on two different calls.

When it comes to picking stuff up in Dexter, that is probably a bit too far south to hear it. I would probably think that if you got up into Dover-Foxcroft, it would probably come in better.
