The organizers are now threatening to slow the Beltway each day until their message is heard, whatever it is.

DRIVER UPDATE: Depart at 9:30am
Today's Convoy route for The People's Convoy:
From the Hagerstown Speedway, turn left onto Rt 40 to I-81s to I-70e to I-270s to I-495s.
We will loop the beltway 2 times and then drive back up from I-495 to I-270n to I-70w to I-81n to (exit 5b) to the AC&T truck stop to refuel. From there, we will drive I-81n one exit to Rt 40 (exit 6b) to the Hagerstown Speedway.

Now that's not very decent. If they had a bit of smarts I bet they'd get around nicely and maybe have a few "messages heard" if they flew some blue & yellow flags around

There is some reporting that the convoy organizers are planning to stay in Hagerstown today and stage some sort of rally at the Speedway, but I would expect some rogues to go out on their own. There are also disturbing reports of anti-Ukranian rhetoric within factions of the protesters, another indication where the participant's "research" is sourced.

Some slowdowns on I-70 South in the South Mountain range west of Frederick, then lesser slowdowns in the Clarksburg and Germantown areas along I-270 southbound. Chart cameras clearly show demonstrator's vehicles in the traffic flow based on the flags. Mostly pickup trucks and load-less tractors.

The event organizers now plan to do a slow drive around the Beltway on Sunday.

The commuters ALWAYS have a slow drive on the beltway on Monday (depending on what direction you are going).

I hope they realize that nothing makes allies rally to a cause more than slowing traffic down, making kids late for school, and interfering with deliveries (this is a neutral observation on the subject).

I wouldn't be surprised if any wants or demands aren't met just to drag out the situation to make them look bad.

I'll be monitoring the school bus frequencies for my kids area to see how much of anything it affects, they might even be more useful than police frequencies (the bus drivers tend to talk a little more openly about what they observe). :) . :)

Thanks
Joel

This is great lol:

"Russia Is the distraction for what is going on here!"

Yeah that's it. A war is meant to distract us from some trucks doing...something? It sounds like a disorganized mess. Should be some colorful radio comms to monitor!

To be fair, the disorganization isn't new, a year of two ago there was a trucker protest in front of the white house (on independence avenue), and during my (at the time) regular drive by the area, they were very good and peaceful and comfortable to be around. When my daughter asked what they were protesting, we took a closer look at one of their signs. The sign had a litany of grievances, and I felt like shouting out the window to the truckers standing around (having a barbecue) "Narrow your Message!!!". Protesting 5 different things isn't helpful, one (maybe two), fine, otherwise the message is diluted and appears confused.

As it was, I felt reasonably safe driving by with them protesting. It's gotten too dangerous to drive around the area now.

Thanks
Joel

Indy doesn't border the White House btw. The point of this protest is more or less moot as restrictions have been lifted in almost all jurisdictions. But the anti vax element cannot be swayed, even as their friends die. Can't fix stupid.

Right, Constitution avenue was the one.

I don't think they are anti-vax, just anti mandate, like I said, they need to clean up the message, which wont likely happen.

Neither does Constitution BTW, as it's south of the Ellipse. I believe that they are both anti-vax, informed by disinformation; and anti-government mandate due to political belief, however misguided.

They blended in with weekend traffic today for the most part, not really relevant.

it's right in front of the white house... Part of the multiple reasons for going on it was to show the kids where these things were... The best comment when looking at all of these buildings was "Where did they get all of the stones?" which I started to think about and noticed there ARE a lot of Quarries in northern Virginia.

as far as the other part, yup there are different opinions.

Thanks

Nope. Pennsylvania Avenue is right in front of the White House, hence the address 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
