Piatt county sheriff

Good Evening , I have been out of the scanning hobby for a while but I'm back I live in Monticello IL, Piatt County and cannot hear the Monticello police or the Piatt County sheriff, I have 155.5950 plugged in my Radio Schack Pro 152 scanner. I hear some "roaring" noise but no voice, Someone told me they have "Narrow banded" in the last 12 months. I had an old RS scanner and used to hear them all the time. Can anyone help me??

Did you look at the database. It shows NXDN in use since 2016.

The main dispatch is in the clear. They have some tactical channels that are encrypted.

There are only two scanners capable of NXDN - the Whistler TRX-1 and the TRX-2. Piatt County is not encrypted ( I do receive it at home ), but I don't hear a lot of traffic. I suspect they use cell phones more than the radios.
