When Sumner first went to Digital the Dog Catcher was on 46160 for a week or so, Then someone decided that Animal Control doesn't need an expensive Digital radio, so they put the dog catcher back on Analog 2096. Animal Control does not use 46160 only 2096.

Gotcha. Thanks.

FYI, the 46160 is still listed in the database.

Anyone have a update about this.

I know I'm a little late in the game to this, being out of state and all, but you do realize that the PSOPS talkgroups are shared across KC/VC, Pierce and Sno Counties, right?

62992 is PSOPS S-1...'S' as in South.

For us newbies...

Anyone have any updates for Tacoma Police, I have a submission for 52240 as being Tac 5, I foind that Tac-5 is something else, any help here would be great.

For those of us brand new to scanning, what is it meant by "52240"? Do you only enter this in or is there a prefix 800 mhz frequency that I need to know? As I said, I am brand new, an operator not a programmer, and will be receiving my first scanner in a few weeks.

He's referring to the talkgroup ID of the system in question. For public safety you don't need to memorize frequencies... you just set those one time and the scanner does the rest.

Each 'channel' is now a talkgroup ID ... every agency has a few of those. Obviously the bigger the agency, the more TGIDs they have.

Nick-

So another dumb question, if I am wanting to set up my Bearcat BCTX15 when I get it by myself instead of paying $69+ to have Scanner Master program it, is it difficult to do using the Washington frequencies listed on this website? I have a Mac so I can't load the FreeScan program, I would have to manually program. For beginners, I'm wanting to program the scanner with the following police agencies:

Auburn PD
Bellevue PD
King County (Precincts 1-4)
Seattle PD
Tukwila PD
Federal Way PD
Renton PD
Kent PD
Seatac PD
Issaquah PD
Snoqualmie PD

And what "control" channel do you pick from the list on the "Seattle-King County Public" list of police frequencies? Does it matter?

I really wouldn't pay them to program stuff as they probably have no clue what you really want and it probably wouldn't be done right anyway.

You're better off finding someone with a PC that can program it for you. BTW, Windows laptops are fairly cheap these days and you find them on EBay, etc. Compared to a MAC, the investment is far cheaper. :)

If you're a computer person and know your MAC well then you might want to read this:

Mac Users

If you're not comfortable with the above then by all means find someone to help you.

PS. Programming manually isn't very difficult -- just time consuming. Just *read* the instructions and you'll be fine.

This depends on what you want to listen to.

King County is a large area and requires multiple trunking sites. These sites are tied together and make one system.

From downtown you'll program in the Columbia Tower site as it's the best for that location. You'll need to figure out which site is best for you.

The only catch is that some TGIDs are only on certain sites. This is logical as a small department that has 3-4 TGIDs has no reason to be on the Columbia Tower site -- especially if there's a great distance in-between.

Generally, it's by area. So Seattle PD is going to be on Columbia Tower and EPSCA will be Bellevue and the Eastside agencies.

Start with Columbia Tower and go from there.

PS. Don't reply back to this post -- start a new forum thread -- so we don't hijack the current topic. :)

If I'm only programming about 11 departments, each having about 5-10 channels, is it really that hard to do manually on my own without a computer? Looking at the Seattle-King Public Safety site at Seattle-King County Public Safety Trunking System, Seattle, Washington - Scanner Frequencies, do I just need to select a "control" channel and then input the talk groups?

Does the manual tell you to select a "control" channel and then input the talk groups associated? I'm guessing that once I figure out how to program one department with 5 talk groups, the rest will be easy?

I'm a tard when it comes to this.

Puyallup fire is now part of Central Pierce Fire and Rescue, dispatched by Tacoma Fire. Could I get Orting PD's new frequency?
Thanks.
